it is my belief that the stronger the dipole-dipole interaction is the
more likely the substance will be a liquid. the molecules will have more
of a tendency to stay together because of the stronger attractive
forces. i also think that the dipole-dipole interactions affect the
physical charactistics, such as melting or boiling point. i am not sure,
however, on this last point.
