I am going to write what I remember from today's lecture. There
are four kinds of intermolecular forces- ionic-ionic, hydrogen bonding,
van da waals forces, polor forces. ionic forces are forces between ionic
molecules. H bond forces formed by bonding with O,N, and F like in H2O.
Van da WAals forces are weak and came from the temporary isolation of
electrons in nonpolar compounds.
the rule of thumb for solubility is that "like dissolves like".
