I believe that an example of an ionic liquid is that of molten
sodium chloride solution. It takes an incredible amount of energy to
turn table salt into a liquid (without the use of a solvent). The
chloride and sodium ions still interact with one another in an ionic
fashion, except that now the compound exists in the physical state of a
liquid. Hope this clears up what Jennifer said on Friday.
