In response to your question about ion-ion attractions, dipole, van der
Waal's, etc., you are correct that hydrogen bonds are dipole-dipole
attractions. But the two are not synonymous. Hydrogen bonds are dipole-dipole
attractions, but not all dipole attractions are hydrogen bonds. Make sense?
