As far as the mechanism goes for the formation of this alkene, what is the
base that removes the H atom in the final step? The conditions of the
reaction only indicat H+, which in my mind does not necessarily indicate
an aqueous solution, in which water would be the base that would remove
the H atom. Can I just assume that the reaction is in aqueous conditions?
