To wallenba,
On page 285, it states "Name compounds containing a double bond and an
alcoholgroup as alkenols and give the alcoholcarbon the lower number."
This means that cis-3-Methylcyclohexanol does not need the one because it
is not an alkene, where 1-Methyl-2-cyclopen-1-ol is so it needs the
designation of the hydroxyl group. This was all I could find concerning
nomenclature of this but if anyone has found anything different, please
feel free to correct it.
