Jason,
Aldehydes don't have a hydrogen attached to a strongly
electronegative atom (N,O for example). Therefore aldehydes don't
participate in hydrogen bonding. Alcohols by nature do have a OH to
participate in hydrogen bonding. The intermolecular attraction caused by
the H-bonding allows for a higher boiling point. Hope that clears up the
mystery!
