When Dr. Fryhle mentioned work up step in these particular reactions, he
was talking about the addition of the acidic hydrogen to the negatively
charged oxygen to form the alcohol. This happens by the addition of a
acid to the ion. We did this in the Grignard experiment when we added the
HCl to the benzoate ion to form the benzoic acid.
