The reason that you need to be so careful in your keeping the grignard
away froma any moisture is because the grignard reagent is super sensitive
to acidic compounds. This includes water, alcohols, etc. If we were to
allow water to be present the formation of the grignard would fail to
happen. The compounds would react with the acidic group first.
