Gabe,

On p.133 it says that "iso" on the begining of a substituent is used when
arranging them alphabetically. But when the prefix sec- or tert- is at
the begining they don't play a role in alphabetizing. For example, (I got
these from the book) tert-butyl precedes ethyl, but ethyl precedes
isobutyl. Hopes this helps.
