1st semester test

On the last question of first semesters test, the compound is
named 2,4,4 trimethylpentane. I was wondering why it wouldn't be named
2,2,4 trimethylpentane instead. If you want to achieve the lowest
numbered compound you would start numbering in the reverse order that they
did. Does this make sense to anyone, or is it just a test question that
really didn't how the compound was named? If someone has an answer, I
would love to hear it tonight.
