You said that you didn't get the correct results from 2-chlorobutane and
2-bromobutane as stated in exercise 1. The difference (by my results) is
hard to see in the NaI solution. In the experiment I ran both did not
react at room temp. Both did however did show a slight cloudiness when
heated in the 50 degree water bath. In the silver nitrate the
2-bromobutane reacted at room temp (approx 10 secs) and the
2-chlorobutane reacted after the 100 degree water bath. My results for
these halides were the same as someone else I talked to. Hope this clears
up the ?.
