When drawing a molecule on paper the easiest way to figure out S and R
configs. is to put the d designated group behind the screen of the
paper, which allows you to look at the molecule from the front rather than
trying to imagine looking at it from some other angle. When the d group
is behind the paper, the a, b, and c, groups will be right in front of
you, then decide wheather they are in a clockwise or opposite direction.
