First semester topics include the structure of matter, atomic and molecular theory, states of matter and quantitative relationships. Second semester topics include kinetics, chemical equilibrium, thermochemistry, study of the elements grouped according to the periodic table, radio-chemistry, and inorganic qualitative analysis. Designed primarily for students who want to major in chemistry, biology, engineering, geology, or physics. Students interested in health sciences should refer to the Preprofessional Programs section of this catalog. High school chemistry required.
